ATHIRAPPILLY FALLS

 


An ideal place to spend monsoons with your better-half, the Athirappilly Waterfalls are the largest falls in Kerala. The sizzling silver water droplets fall down into the lush green forest, which is home to species like Great Indian Hornbill, Cochin Forest Cane Turtle and the Nilgiri Langur. Appropriately called the ‘Niagara in India’, Athirappilly falls can make anyone fall in love at first sight.

-Rail – 30 kms. from the Chalakudi Railway Station
Best Time To Visit: June to September, i.e. the monsoons.

  Jog Falls , is a waterfall on the Sharavati river located in the Western Ghats Sagara taluk, Shimoga district. It is the second highest plunge waterfall in India. It is a segmented waterfall which depends on rain and season becomes a plunge waterfall. The falls are major attractions for tourists and is ranked 36th in the list of free-falling waterfalls, 490th in the world by list of waterfalls by total height, 128th in the list of single-drop waterfalls in the World by the waterfall database.
